"Together we form a team, and together we find the path to healing."

One of the biggest drawbacks to individual therapy is the perceived power difference between therapist and client. For someone who is coming to therapy because they feel less than positive about themselves, that difference can be quite detrimental to the bonding process and the building of trust.  It can cause the client to keep secret information that they may wish they could share, for fear of being shamed or judged by someone they deem as much more perfect, having it “all together.”

While it is important that the client have a healthy respect for my expertise as a therapist and a perception that I am a happy, well balanced human being, I believe it is equally important that my clients feel respected by me.  I am humbly aware that each client contains within him or her self the life experience and power to heal and grow.  I am only a facilitator, bringing to the table my own life experience which includes my psychological training and years of practice.  Together we form a team, and together we find the path to healing.
